Idaho Governor
Mandates Basic Pilot for State Employees & Contractors
The Governor of Idaho signed an Executive Order Dec. 13th,
2006 which mandates that all state agencies, contractors and subcontractors of the state
use the Basic Pilot program to verify new hires. The Basic Pilot (or SAVE) program is
administered under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The program checks Social
Security Numbers and names against DHS and SSA records to determine if the name and number
presented by an employee match.
Employees screened by the process will receive a verification number to prove they are
eligible to work in the U.S. The number will be kept on file and available for inspection.
